Where do you live now? After many years of living elsewhere I am lucky to be back in beautiful Jamestown

Personal info (family, kids, pets, etc.) husband, wood artist Doug Brill. 3 dogs: Kaya (blue heeler) Izzy (Cavalier King Charles spaniel) and Cleo (papillon/chiuahua mix). 2 cats Cosmo and Lily

How did you get started in music?

My mother was a choral director and pianist. I started turning pages for her when I was five years old, then I took piano lessons, played guitar in high school, and after many years of begging and pleading, began oboe lessons as a high school senior.

When did you join the Rhode Island Philharmonic?

 1978-could I really be this old!!!

What are your non-RIPO musical activities?

 Northeast Chamber Ensemble ( woodwind quintet and trio) as well as freelance work throughout New England.

What is the question you’re asked most often when you tell people you play with the RIPO?

 Do you get paid for that?

What is your favorite RIPO memory to date?

 When pianist Alexander Toradze walked through the orchestra to kiss my hand for his solo bow after our performance of the Ravel piano concerto!

Do you teach? Yes if so, where?

at URI , Salve Regina University,St. George's school and in my home studio

If you couldn’t be a musician, what would be your dream job?

I love animals, so I guess it would be animal handler or trainer.

What are your non-musical hobbies?

Cooking Thai food, gardening, kayaking and roller blading.

Who or what has been your greatest influence, musical or otherwise?

 My oboe teacher at BU: John Holmes.

What is your favorite music?

I am a Bach-a-holic, but I also love Ravel and Shostakovich.

What are you currently listening to?

 The complete cantatas of JS Bach.

What/where do you like to eat in the Providence area?

Tokyo on Wickenden and Apsara on Elmwood, also Galaxie in Cranston.

Is there anything else you’d like to tell us?

As my first year in RIPO was Madeira's last, I have played for every one of the conductors in RIPO's history!
