The Suzuki method of teaching musical instruments to children has a long track record of success around the world. Part of the reason for the effectiveness of the method is that parents are directly involved in the teaching process by learning along with their children. This course offers grown-ups of all ages the opportunity to learn to play the piano or guitar through the Suzuki Method, adapted for adult learners. The fundamentals of music on these instruments are taught through an auditory learning approach that stresses beautiful tone, solid technique and expressive playing of well-known folk songs and classical works. The group setting allows for a support group of peers plus the opportunity for ensemble playing as part of the learning experience.
The class is open to beginners as well as those with some playing experience. You must have your own classical guitar (nylon stringed) for the class; pianos are available at the school.
