FRANCISCO NOYA has served as Resident Conductor of the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra for 20 seasons, where he represents the Philharmonic artistically and educationally throughout our community. He is also the music director of the Boston Civic Symphony in Boston, M.A., and the New Philharmonia Orchestra in Newton, M.A. Additionally, he is a respected member of the conducting faculty of the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
A native of Venezuela, Mr. Noya was a conductor of the Youth Orchestra of Valencia, one of the original ensembles of “El Sistema.” He earned advanced degrees in composition and conducting from Boston University. He has served as Assistant Conductor of the Caracas Philharmonic and Assistant to the Music Director of the Teatro Teresa Carreño, one of the most prestigious theaters in Latin America. He has appeared as a guest conductor of the Boston Pops, Baltimore, Nashville, San Antonio and Cape Cod Symphony Orchestras, and the Orquesta Académica of Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. He has also performed internationally in Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, and Russia.
