Conducts TACO Classical concert with
soloist, Grammy winner Yefim Bronfman, Sept. 28
Rhode Island Philharmonic’s Artistic Advisor and Conductor Bramwell Tovey returned to the podium Friday and Saturday (Aug. 9-10) to conduct the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s annual Tchaikovsky Spectacular. Later this month, he will lead the BBC Concert Orchestra at Royal Albert Hall in London in a concert tribute to Proms-founder Henry Wood. The Proms celebrates its 150th Anniversary this year.
On Sept. 28, Tovey will be on the podium at The VETS for the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra’s 75th season opener featuring Grammy-winner pianist Yefim Bronfman performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No.3. The season marks the first planned and led by Tovey. He will conduct 11 classical concerts, the Orchestra & Music School’s Season 75 Gala, which features violinist Pinchas Zukerman and cellist Amanda Forsyth, Handel’s Messiah and eight Link Up education concerts.
“We are thrilled that Bramwell is on the mend, after taking only a brief hiatus from conducting. We talk and Skype frequently and have continued our planning efforts as we prepare to launch a new era of growth for the Orchestra & Music School.”
— David Beauchesne, Executive Director, Rhode Island Philharmonic
“It’s tremendously exciting to be nearing our first concert in September. It’s our first season together and the Orchestra’s 75th, so we’ve planned meaningful, memorable and inspiring concerts that explore the depth and breadth of this wonderful Orchestra. I intend to spend a lot time out in the community as well, and can’t wait!”
–Bramwell Tovey, Artistic Advisor, Rhode Island Philharmonic
