Arriving at The VETS



Free parking is available at both the State parking lot next to the Capitol building and the lot directly across Smith Street. Parking in the Providence Place Mall Parking Garage is $2 for up to 5 hours.

Park Street Entrance

Ticketed patrons may use the Park Street entrance (at 83 Park Street near Hayes Street) and take the elevator to the 3rd floor, where you will be able to enter the hall via The VETS Gallery. Those purchasing or picking up tickets must go directly to the box office at the main entrance on Avenue of the Arts.

Shuttle Trolley

For "A Celebration with Lang Lang," the Philharmonic runs FREE SHUTTLE TROLLEYS between the Capitol parking lots on Smith Street and The VETS before the concert 4:00pm to 4:50pm and after the concert continuing until the end of the post-concert chat.

After the concert, shuttles will typically pick up at the same stop as pre-concert drop off. This is typically at the
corner of Park Street and Avenue of the Arts, but may vary based on traffic and road access.

Accessible Parking 

Handicap parking is available in the circle directly in front of The VETS. Handicapped spots are  available on a first come basis. 

Entering the Hall

Outer doors open one hour prior to the listed start time of the concert. The hall opens 30 minutes prior to showtime. Patrons should arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the start of the performance to allow ample time for parking and finding their seats.

Security at The VETS

Heightened security measures have been implemented at The VETS to include Providence Police Details at all events. Please be advised that all bags may be inspected at the discretion of VETS security and/or the police officer on site. Items confiscated will not be returned. Please be advised that suitcases, briefcases, large bags, and laptops are not allowed in the building. Additionally, outside food and drinks are not permitted inside the venue.


There is no dress code at RI Philharmonic performances. Some patrons wear elegant or business attire, while others dress casually.

Assisted Listening Devices

Assisted Listening Devices are available and free to use for all performances at The VETS. They can be obtained at the lower lobby Coat Room and require a deposit of the user's driver's license, returnable upon return of the device. Questions and further assistance can be directed to a member of The VETS staff. These devices are intended to assist only the listening quality of amplified speech and announcements.

During the Performance

Once a concert begins, please keep noise to a minimum. Please refrain from entering and exiting the hall while a performance is in progress. Ushers are stationed at entrances and exits. If you must leave your seat, please proceed quickly and quietly to the nearest door, or ask the nearest usher for assistance. Please note that you will not be able to re-enter the hall until a suitable break in the program.

Electronic Devices

All devices should be switched to silent mode.


Please applaud only at the close of a full piece of music. The program page lists individual movements for longer compositions and can help you follow the Orchestra's progress.

Cameras/Recording Equipment

Use of cameras and recording equipment is prohibited at Rhode Island Philharmonic concerts.

Children at the Rhode Island Philharmonic

Children five years and older are welcome at RI Philharmonic concerts. Youth and Family Concerts are intended for students in kindergarten through grade 12. Children in grades 1-6 are encouraged to join the RI PHIL Kids Club for special discounted tickets and exclusive programs.


Smoking is prohibited at The VETS.


Restrooms are located on the Mezzanine and Basement levels.
Handicapped accessible restrooms are available on both the Mezzanine level and Basement level via the elevator.

Water fountain/Bubbler is located on the Basement level.

Coat check is located on the Basement level and is available at most concerts.

Bar and Concessions are located on the Main Floor and Mezzanine levels.

How long is the concert?

Rush Hour Fridays: approximately 60-75 minutes, no intermission
Open Rehearsal Fridays: approximately 2 hours, including a 20 minute intermission
Classical Saturdays: approximately 2 hours, including a 20 minute intermission
Gala Concert: approximately 85 minutes, including a 20 minute intermission

Programming Before and After the Concert

Pre-concert talk: 7:00pm at The VETS before most Saturday TACO Classical Concerts
Post-concert Q&A: following most Saturday TACO Classical and Friday AMICA Rush Hour concerts

Supper Club

Enjoy a special buffet at the Renaissance Hotel, adjacent to The VETS, at 6:00pm on Classical Saturdays. Francisco Noya gives a pre-concert talk at 6:30pm, then take your seat for the 8:00pm performance featuring Music Director Larry Rachleff and your RI Philharmonic!

Deadline for reservations and cancellations is typically the Wednesday before each Saturday TACO Classical Concert.

What if I arrive late?

Whenever possible, late seating will take place during the first convenient pause in the program. Please be aware that there are some programs which make late seating impossible. We encourage you to arrive at least 30 minutes early.

What if I can't find my tickets?

Lost tickets can be reprinted until 30 minutes prior to showtime.
To request a reprint, email and include:

  • name the tickets were purchased under

  • which ticket(s) you need reprinted

  • what name you'd like them held under at Will Call

You will receive a confirmation message when printed and ready for pickup at the Will Call window.

Within 30 minutes of showtime, please visit the Box Office at The VETS.

Can I buy tickets or subscriptions at a RI Philharmonic Concert?

Yes! The Box Office is open before all concerts and during intermission. You can also call 401.248.7000 (M-F; 9a-4:30p)

Turning in tickets

If you are unable to use your concert ticket(s), we encourage you to donate them back to the RI Philharmonic. We'll send you a letter recognizing the donation, and you can use that value as a tax deduction (to the fullest extent of the law).

To turn-back your tickets, please email and include:

  • the name the tickets were purchased under

  • which ticket(s) you would like to donate

  • the address to which you would like the letter mailed
